Destiny Grant, M.Ed

The Board of Directors for Libertas Academy Colleton is proud to announce the hire of Destiny Grant, M.Ed., as the new school director. With over a decade of experience in education and leadership, Grant is uniquely positioned to lead the school in providing high-quality, student-centered education tailored to the needs of the Colleton community.

Destiny Grant’s career spans various leadership roles, including Principal, Assistant Principal, and Director of School Operations at the South Carolina Public Charter School District. In her most recent role, she oversaw school operations across multiple campuses, managed student information systems, and led professional development initiatives for school leaders and staff. Her expertise in data-driven instruction and strategic program implementation will be pivotal in shaping the vision and direction of Libertas Academy Colleton.

Libertas Academy Colleton is designed to meet the community’s unique needs, with a strong focus on improving literacy, fostering a supportive environment, and offering innovative learning experiences. As a charter school, it provides tuition-free public education with the flexibility to tailor programs to best serve students’ needs.

“Destiny’s passion for education and deep commitment to student success are exactly what we need to launch this school and build a strong foundation for our community’s students,” said Keith Coones, Board Chair of Libertas Academy Colleton. “Her extensive experience in school leadership and dedication to fostering successful learning environments will be critical as we work to provide top-tier education as the county’s first-ever charter school.”

Destiny Grant shared her enthusiasm for the role and the opportunity to lead this initiative: “I’m incredibly honored to join Libertas Academy Colleton as its School Director. My goal is clear: to become the highest performing school in Colleton County. I am committed to developing well-rounded, critical thinkers who can succeed academically and contribute to their communities.” She continued, “Education is a team effort, and I’m committed to working closely with families, staff, and community members to achieve this goal.”

Libertas Academy Colleton is set to open for the 2025-2026 school year, serving 4K through 4th grade students in its first year and adding one grade per year to ultimately serve 4K through 8th grades.
